Max H. Penner - CTO & Co-Founder of Paradise FX

 

Local 600 Stereographer, Stereoscopic Camera Designer, Camera Systems Engineer, Digital Acquisition Technician, and member of on the Academy Scientific and Technical Awards Special Photographic Advisory Committee.

Max’s past experience includes extensive hands on development of motion picture camera, optical, and electromechanical design. Max's experience in2D&3D film, tape ,and digital projects has made him one of the most sought after consultant and technicians in the industry. Working extensively for years on feature film, commercial and television productions has allowed him to develop many of the tools and skills that make him an essential member of any 2D or 3D production.

Max has designed and manufactured stereo camera systems for Paradise FX over the last 18 years. Max designed and directed the digital 3D workflow Paradise used on “The Hole”, “My Bloody Valentine” and Sony’s soon to be released “Dark Country”


Education: Bachelor of Arts in Still Photography, Santa Monica College 1969.

In 1991 Max partnered in Paradise F.X. This allowed him to pursue his passion in Large Format, Special Venue, 3-D Photography as well as Motion Control and other high tech film making methods.
His Prototype and unusual camera platform designs have served to broaden Max's opportunities in the industry.

Proficient with: Showscan, Imax, Iwerks, VistaVision, Panavision, Arri, MovieCam and Mitchell Cameras and Lens Systems. Specializing in Aerial camera platforms along with any of the usual or unusual camera moving vehicles. From the front of a dug out canoe, shooting the Amazon or Nascar at 180 mph, to the nose of a T-38 jet or the belly of a TwinStar helicopter, Max has a vast amount of hands-on experience to bring to any shoot.
